PK Kovo
Site for a metalworking shop
Open the site
The brief
PK Kovo is a metalworking shop in Česká Skalice, in the north-east of Czechia. Welding, custom and small-batch fabrication, and bioclimatic pergolas alongside them. The company has been on the market for ten years and stands on seventeen years of experience.
A customer of a workshop like that decides differently from a customer of an online store. They are not buying a product from a catalogue but the ability to make one piece to measure, and they need the site to tell them two things: whether the shop can make exactly their thing, and whether they will be easy to deal with. A personal approach and flexibility are what the company itself promises; the site has to show that rather than just state it.
The solution
The page runs in a single line from fabrication to enquiry, and the piece that does the most work is the four-step promise the company makes in its own offer: we measure, we design, we fabricate, we install.
Four verbs tell a customer what matters before any paragraph about the company does — that they will not have to find a metalworker, a fitter and someone to take the measurements separately. The rest of the site only backs that promise up: what the shop makes, what a bioclimatic pergola actually is, and what can be ordered to measure.
Beyond that it is plain craft with no effects. The contact details, the address on Na Kamenci in Česká Skalice and the phone number stay within reach from every part of the page. For a business people call, a phone number matters more than a gallery.
My role
Design and development on Nette 3 — first in 2022, and again in the recent rebuild. The task stayed the same both times: show what the workshop can do and lead the customer to an enquiry.
The outcome
A live, maintained site rather than an archive. On this entry in the portfolio that matters more than anything else: a project from 2022 that came back years later for a rebuild says more about the working relationship than any testimonial could.
It is also the kind of job that makes it worth offering delivery alongside consulting — a smaller company, a clear brief, a finished thing that serves somebody.
